I am alerting you to an increased number of influenza-like illnesses at BPES. Please note the attached CDC information sheet and also the following excellent websites:
Each winter we see influenza illness, but this year the numbers are larger in our area. Good hand-washing and covering the cough are excellent practices this time of the year.
We ask that you keep your child home 24 hours after the last fever without any fever-reducing medication being given during that 24 hour period. Please make sure your child's cough has improved and that they have energy to tolerate a school day. If we all work together, we will help control the spread of this virus.
Thanks so much for all your help.

Inclement Weather Information
Winter weather is here and soon we will again be faced with the possibility of closing schools and scheduling make-up events.
The decision to close school, delay opening school, or dismiss school early is based on varying weather conditions (i.e. extreme cold and wind chill, high winds and snow, icy roads, etc.). The primary reason school is closed is for the safety of the children; however, many people can be affected by the decision.
Check this website, listen to radio stations KROC 106.9 FM, KRFO 1390 AM, and/or watch KAAL TV Channel 6 or KTTC TV Channel 10 for announcements. Normally decisions are called in by 6:00 a.m. but there can be delays in getting through or having the announcements read.
If you have not already done so, please sign up for our notification system by clicking on the "School Messenger" black button in the left side column.
All school activities are canceled when school is closed and with an early dismissal. This includes practices (varsity practices may be optional), rehearsals, open gym, games, concerts, Community Education, etc.
