In case there is an E-Learning Snow Day in the near future here is a learning grid for your child to complete.

Please do one activity from each row and color it in when you are finished. Return within 2 school days with your child’s name, an adult signature, and date the activities were completed.

Once this sheet is returned, your child will be counted as present for attendance on the day of the snow day.

 

Reading

Have an adult read a story to you.  Talk about the characters and setting of the story with them.

Have an adult read a story to you and draw a picture of your favorite part of the story.

Tell an adult all the letters of the alphabet and what letter sound each letter makes.

Read to self for 10 minutes. (It is okay if students cannot read.  They can look at the pictures and make up their own story.)

Choose 5 different letters. Go on a search through your house to find at least one item that starts with each of those letters.

Writing

Create and send a card to a relative or friend.

Plan a grocery trip with an adult and write 3 things you need on a list.

Write your first and last name 3 times with 3 different colors.

Write the names of 5 people in your life.

Write all the capital and lowercase letters of the alphabet.

Math

Go on a shape hunt around your house.  Find items that are the shapes of: Circle, Triangle, Rhombus, Square, Rectangle, Oval.

Write the numbers 0 through 20.

Practice counting by 1’s to 30.  Then, practice counting to 100 by 10’s.

Create or draw a patterns 2 different patterns.  (AB, ABB, ABC, etc.)

Make shapes using toothpicks, popsicle sticks, or any other items you find at home.

Physical Ed./SMART

Practice the Alligator Crawl and Pencil Roll 5 times.

Practice jumping jacks and pushups.

Make a snowman or a snow fort.

Help an adult shovel the driveway or sidewalk.

Pick 2 songs and dance to them.

Creative/Science

With an adult, help make a treat or a meal.

Build a fort with materials in your house. (Blankets, Blocks, etc.)

Make a snowball and put it in a container. Bring it inside and time how long it takes to melt.

Make a creation with materials you have at home.  (Examples include toothpicks, marshmallows, Legos, paper, etc.)

Test 5 objects in water to see if they float or sink.
